We are entering to an exciting transformative decade. The pandemic reshaped the lives of billions and forced societies to rapidly develop digital skills and instruments as away to keep economies going. In the light of these developments, European Union has initiated a number of regulatory and political initiatives that evolve around the development of digital skills, the resilience of digital infrastructures and digital transformation of business and public services in order for EU to lead in the global digital economy. The driving force of these developments is the need to create an \u201cecosystem of trust,\u201d a model of data governance in line with Europe\u2019s democratic values and fundamental rights.<\/p>\n
The session aims at exploring the policies and regulations that touch upon critical legal issues and ethical dilemmas that arise in relation to the current status and future perspectives of the digital ecosystem.<\/p>\n
Papers of interest might discuss among others<\/p>\n

Authors are invited to submit their original work that has not previously been submitted or published in any other venue. Each paper length should not exceed 8<\/strong> pages. All papers need to be in IEEE CS format<\/u><\/a><\/strong> and submitted via the dedicated Easychair submission site<\/strong><\/a> according to the instructions on the Initial Submissions<\/a> page.<\/p>\n Extended versions of selected papers will be included in three Special Issues in\u00a0Telecom<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/i><\/b>(100% APC-waived),\u00a0Signals<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/i>(discount or 100% APC-waived) and\u00a0Information\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/a>(50% APC-waived)\u00a0MDPI journals.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. Lilian Mitrou<\/strong>, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean<\/em><\/p>\n Lilian Mitrou is professor at the Aegean-Greece (Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering) and Visiting Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the University of Piraeus (Postgraduate Studies Programs). She teaches information law and data protection law. L. Mitrou holds a PhD in Data Protection (University of Frankfurt-Germany). She was Member of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (1999-2003). She was member of many Committees working on law proposals in the fields of privacy and data protection, communications law, e-government etc. During the Greek Presidency of the Council of EU (2014) she has served as Chair of DAPIX (Working Group on Information Exchange and Data Protection) and from June 2016 till February 2018 she was Chair of the Draft Committee on the adaptation of Greek law to the General Data Protection Regulation (2016\/679\/EU) and the Data Protection Directive (2016\/680\/EU). Since November 2016 she is member of the Greek National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV). Her professional experience includes senior consulting and researcher positions in a number of private and public institutions and projects on national and international level. L. Mitrou published books, chapters in books and many journal and conference papers (in English, German and Greek).<\/p>\n Dr. Panagiotis Kitsos, <\/strong>Hellenic Open University<\/em><\/p>\n Panagiotis Kitsos holds an LL.M in EU Law from the Law School of Stockholm University and a PhD focused in European Data Protection Law and Privacy from University of Macedonia. He has worked for 16 years as a litigation lawyer in private practice (civil and commercial law). In 2015 he joined the Greek Ministry of Finance as a legal officer. He has collaborated as an adjunct professor at both undergraduate and post graduate level with the International Hellenic University (GR), University of Macedonia (GR) (where is also member of Information and Technology Law Research Team at the Department of Applied Informatics), the University of Ioannina (GR) and currently as member of the Adjunct Faculty of Hellenic Open University. His interests lie in the intersection of EU Information Technology Law, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Cybercrime and GDPR compliance related to emerging disruptive technologies like Cloud Computing, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence. He is currently collaborating with the Institute for the Internet and a Just Society in Berlin, a think tank that connects civic engagement with interdisciplinary research focused on fair artificial intelligence, inclusive digital governance and human rights law in digital spheres advising on issues related to his field of expertise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Short Description and Goals We are entering to an exciting transformative decade.
